Family Time
I’m spending this whole week at my parents’ place - nahh it’s not because of the mouse (!) Next semester starts on February 5th, so I still had one week off to spend with my family. On tuesday Klaas left for Madrid and my dad celebrated his 60th birtday
:twinkle: I can’t believe he’s already THAT old!
:present: He’s a big fan of movies - just like me - so I bought him two DVDs : The Island and Ben Hur. My parents bought a gigantic HDTV so they really enjoy watching movies on it…
Because my dad has a big family dinner with my aunts, uncles and cousins planned on saturday at Pacific Plaza we only celebrated his birthday with some pie and a visit to the local cinema :cake: I saw Blood Diamon again together with my parents. They really enjoyed the movie so I’m happy!
This week was filled with cozy family time
 My mom and I bought some über delicious Belgian chocolate truffels and my dad and I went to get a haircut together. My hair got a little too long and I felt like getting a symbolic haircut after Klaas left
Hahah~ luckily it’s not as dramatic as a break-up haircut! Even though I like the color of my hair I’m thinking about coloring it the next time. I originally have black/very very darkbrown hair, but I might want to go a little more towards dark chocolate… Since I just cut my hair I won’t get a color change till the end of summer
:twinkle: Ack~ time to get some exercise on the new crosstrainer and hit the shower. Still need to help out with party planning *sigh* Oh~ I talked to Klaas on the phone and he might be able to get a place close to La Puerta del Sol that’s located in the very heart of Madrid! :saylove:
頑張ってね~ クラス君 !!!
Religious Tattoos
Did you know that religious tattoos have become one of the hottest sectors of the tattoo industry, accounting for nearly 20% of the total number of tattoos currently being created. Once condemned by the church as “a form of deviltry,” religious tattoo designs have now become a great way for modern-day Christians to express a commitment to their faith in a new and radical way.
Of course religious tattoos aren’t limited to those of a Christian nature. Self mortification has long been an important element of religious doctrine, and many of the tattoos of the East and Pacific Islands are created because of the religious significance they possess. Whether it be Maori tribes in New Zealand who believe the tribal tattoos on the face allow them to be recognized by spirits in the after-life, or Lakota American Indians who believe that an owl woman inspects their body after death for a tattoo, and if not found will deny them admittance to the spirit world.
What is clear is that getting a religious tattoo isn’t simply a charm or a decorative device, but for many is an outward sign of belief and a way to get closer to their chosen representation of God.
