Tanoshikatta!

The first week of 2nd semester went pretty good. On Thursday I had my first Japanese conversation class since ages. Even though I had to adjust my ears it went OK. My teacher can only speak a few words Dutch, so during the class she speaks Japanese. Even though it’s confusing sometimes, I definitely like it because it keeps you tuned in :twinkle:
I also had the introduction class of Japanese Urban Anthropology - and it turns out my (new) roommate also follows the same class!
I celebrated the nice week with a visit to the Touch of Latin theater show of Ruth Jacott together with my parents and big sister :saylove:
I love Ruth Jacott’s songs because of the beautiful Dutch lyrics. Sometimes Dutch sounds so *ugyuuu* but when I listen to Ruth Jacott (or Bløf or Paul de Leeuw) I’m always amazed how Dutch songs can be pretty nice *sigh*
I bought a 100% Madrid guide to help me prepare my visit in April. It lists so much locations and fun things to do
I told Klaas I bought the guide and asked him if he already visited some nice clubs. He thought it was a brilliant move and asked me if I could send him the guide! Like NO WAY ~ I don’t want him to go clubbing without me - besides it’s MY guide
Hahaha~ oh well, I did promise that I would email him some interesting addresses…
Even though homework is taking up most of my time I decided to pick up knitting again. I finished the chunky garter stitch scarf some time ago and I’m wearing it almost every day. I’m working on a dark chocolate spring scarf, I may add stripes in another color or decorate it with buttons. I also started with my first book for the Read 12 Books in 2007 Challenge. It’s the Dutch translation of “Mischiefs of the Bad Girl” or “Travesuras de la niƱa mala” written by Mario Vargas Llosa (?) I’m really enjoying it!
Snow ?!!

The first half of my first week of 2nd semester class is over, I still have one day UvA classes and one day of Leiden U classes left. I really enjoy having to focus on classes again :saylove:
Today I had no practicum class so I could return to Leiden early, the sun was so lovely in Amsterdam - but after the train left Schiphol station it suddenly started to snow !!! Just when I decided to travel by bike to the train station in the morning
:ugh: So after I got home I changed into my comfy clothes and watched Oprah with a peanut butter sandwich and some soy milk. Naturally with cold weather - I ate some delicious stamppot for dinner!
:twinkle: Luckily I have something to look forward to during these cold days: I bought a ticket to Madrid! Klaas got the place close to La Puerta del Sol in the very heart of Madrid. He wanted me to come and visit him as soon as possible, but since I’m packed with classes I’m going to visit him in April
 I will be staying there for 3,5 days - with a temperature around 18 ° Celsius it’s great to do some active site seeing. Klaas left a sweet message on my voicemail: He told me he decorated his room and he was ready for my visit
He even send me a complain sms about my visit in April (why not earlier) !
His classes start next week, so I guess he has too much time to think
I’m sure time will fly for him too when he’s busy with classes at the University of Madrid. I know for sure it will fly by - it’s already February !!! Talking about being busy with classes, I have to get back to preparing tomorrow’s class. Oh~ if you’re looking for a refreshing drink, be sure to try some Firefly Tonics - it’s sooooo tasty ~
Family Dinner
My dad wanted to celebrate his 60th birthday not only with his own family, but with all family members
So he organised a birthday dinner last saturday in Pacific Plaza a fancy restaurant in our hometown. My mom and I still had an extra birthday cake for my dad on saturday - we had one made with his picture on it! Hahaha, my dad really liked it ~

The food was delicious ~
At first I was afraid I wasn’t able to eat everything since it was a multiple course thing, but it was perfect. I especially liked the fish shaped salmon piece - totally cute
Ohh and don’t forget about the sushi !!! More »
