Traktor 3

In an earlier post I wrote about getting my hands on Traktor 3 some very hot DJ software :saylove: :) Even though I wanted to start practicing back in September, school stuff sucked me up and I only looked at the program from time to time *sigh* I planned on practicing a lot and when I would be somewhat good enough I could set-up a server and do some DJ gigs in Second Life :P Probably sometime next year or so I thought … One of my good friends in SL is a DJ and has his own internet radiostation (!) He told me he set up an icecast server which is able to handle the internet broadcasting from Traktor 3. He also wanted to test if it all worked, especially with that specific program since he uses a whole different - more professional - program to play and stream his music!

So we took a look at my Traktor 3 install and set it up so I could stream my music to the internet. Even though connecting to the server was ok, I forgot one important setting …

If you want to stream music to internet (1) the first step is to fill in your broadcasting settings that can be found under preferences. (2) After that make the audio recorder panel appear by clicking on an empty spot, ‘right click’ on ‘audio recorder’. A new panel will appear .. you can see a small icon resembling a broadcasting tower hit that and when it burns red you’re ready to go! BUT …

 What if you’re friends aren’t able to hear your hot mixing with Traktor 3 and you are definitely connected to your server ?!!!!!!

Gahhh ~ my problem exactly :( But wait - track back to preferences and check your audio setup! Go to output rooting and make sure it’s set on internal go down and take a look at what’s filled in at record… If it’s empty .. that’s your problem right there! (3) Make sure you have filled in your soundcard for left and right ;) :twinkle: It should work now! *

 Hahaha ~ when I finally figured that out I could help my friend with checking if it really really worked. He picked up my stream and send it out over his internet radiostation !!!! Ahhh OMG ~ I didn’t have tracks ready and was just fooling around - but with a few listeners attracted to the music I couldn’t just mess things up too much *gulp* In the end I played around with Traktor 3 for about 4 hours with a few listeners  :clover: *tee-hee* Even though I seriously thought it was scary at the start … I really want to thank Lucifer for giving me some playtime !!! It was really a good experience and I will definitely continue to practice and learn - learn - learn

* please note: I use Traktor 3 with a laptop using a soundcard with just 1 channel.
