Home Redux

:) After reading the following comment on Home made by Casey I thought a proper reply was in place …

Sorry but how did you think all those other students stepped into the ‘real world’ ?None of them moved back home before graduating from college. They had their ’stufi’ and worked after classes and still managed to get their own place once they graduated and got a job. I have been amazed of all the stuff you buy and get from your parents for the past year now and I’m not surprised that you haven’t got any savings to make the transition from student to having a fulltime job.

You probably hate me for saying this and might even remove this comment but it just amazes me that every other student seems to be able to do it but you. Then again, you said it yourself, you are spoiled and it is clear from every post on this blog. A student works hard for their money, isn’t able to buy much and tries to save a little on the side. You didn’t get a job till recently and seem to spend all the money you earn on another playstation, laptop, clothing etc.

Just get your priorities straight and no need to move back home at all. Perhaps ask your parents to pay your rent instead of giving you more multimedia stuff too

Rrrrr-ight - so here we go :P More »

Early Morning

It’s Monday and today I seriously woke up early … not thanks to my alarm on my mobile phone, but by a phone call of a dear friend cancelling our day out  What a terrible way to start the day or *gulp* whole new week you might think - But early mornings can be good in a way too…

After hanging up and realizing my daytrip to Amsterdam - which I planned very carefully - was blown to bits I decided I shouldn’t get myself worked up about it. Sh*t like that happends I guess and the day just started and on a day off there would be enough things for me to do. Like mentally preparing myself for breaking the news about me moving out to my roommate *hilfe* :P Hahaha I hopped out of bed and joined my parents and big brother at the breakfast table. I’m still in my hometown - hufff these people wake up early every day! It was very nice to have a cozy breakfast like that … It seriously makes me look forward to living here again.

We discussed the new week and my brother asked if I was going back to Leiden today. When I said yes he answered: “Mann, are you leaving me again?” *lol* Crazy guy! Even though we had the usual big brother - little sister drama when we grew up it’s fun to hang out with him at home. He still lives my parents too ;) Now we (again) have the biggest plans about getting 2 Playstation 3’s, designing our own T-shirts, logo’s & car stickers !!! Hufff - time is again my biggest enemy … will I find the time to do all the stuff?

I’m slowly firing up the day with some hot eclectic beats and now it’s time for me to hit the shower. The day has just started - gonna make it a good one ;) OHAYOOOOOOOO GOZAIMASUUUUU itte kimasu !!!!

Maybe it’s because I’m young & restless, but I’ve been thinking about my future a lot lately. Not just about where I want to be 5 years from now … but also HOW I would like to get there *gulp* I would love to have an appartment in Amsterdam, but it’s not easy for a starter here in The Netherlands to actually realize a dream like that :( As a student I can seriously forget about moving to a nice appartment any time soon.

Even though I have to deal with the whole ‘out of college get a real job’ thing 2 years from now I have decided to start working on getting there right now. I have always lived in luxury - my parents buying me stuff or me indulging in buying glossy magazines and spending my money on caramello machiato’s :P and er… all kinds of gadget girl stuff *sigh* Even though I am able to live like this, I never really saved up money…

To get myself ready for that ‘out of college get a real job’ moment I have decided to give up my appartment in Leiden now and seriously start building up reserves. This means I will return to my hometown and live at my parents’ home again. Klaas thought I was truly crazy, but my family and friends have been very positive. They understand that I want to buffer up, but of course they were worried about all the travelling I would have to do. I already got several ‘you can stay at my place’ offers for those moments I would get stuck with public transport or have to follow class/work late in Amsterdam :) I love you guys !!! *smakkk*

So at the moment I’m busy with all the preparations of moving back to my hometown and notifying everybody *ehehe* It feels a little weird to leave Leiden after living there for a little over 4 years. I’m sure it will be hard to travel from my hometown to Amsterdam at times, but … when I look at why I’ve decided to buffer up … I think it will be worth it ~ ;)
